The traffic characterization of adaptive real-time applicationsprovides a challenging engineering task of the current Internet. Here the arrival and packet length processes arising fromaunidirectional VoIP flow of Skypepackets are investigated bystatistical means. Themeantraffic load offered by the packetflow to a virtual link of limited capacity in a finite observationperiod is calculated andthe mean and upper bounds for the time without loss are derived.A possible characterizationof the packet arrival process by aproperly chosen non-linear GARCH(1,1) model is presented.
